Sleepy little North Bend just woke up.

The newly promoted Sergeant Jade Monroe, and her partner, Detective Jack Steele, have just been informed of an unidentified male body found at a local lake. The town is in an uproar. The victim was nearly decapitated, and murder simply doesn't happen in North Bend.

As more bodies turn up, the single connection between all of the victims becomes clear—it's Jade, herself.

With each new victim getting one step closer to Jade, time begins to tick away. She must find the person responsible before her loved ones, or herself, are targeted next.

  • Maniacal is boring

Uninteresting characters. Predictable plot. Too much useless detail about eating donuts and combing hair. Guess they Could have added bathroom breaks to really make it worse.

I thoroughly enjoyed this introduction to Jade Monroe and company. It pained me to put it down each day. I finished up in a marathon read on a Saturday. Griping. Looking forward to her next case.

Fair to so so book; except it is written as if that Jane is in charge instead of Jack. So Jane could not be a newly promoted detective. Know it is fiction but somethings should stay true too realty.

  • A decent effort...

A decent effort, but I found it a bit dry and lengthy. The characters were also quite 2 dimensional.

What’s does the title mean? Is it something like dime was in the book? At first I didn’t know if I’d like the book. Was too descriptive for me. Either I got use to it or you stopped. Anyway liked the book a lot didn’t even figure out who it was. I do recommend it to anyone that likes murder mystery books.

I love this book!!! The first four chapters and I already had my suspect and knew who the killer was...can’t wait to read more about jade and her crime catching.

A good read. Lots of detail so it makes it easier to get into the story and picture what is happening. This was a free read but one I would have been willing to pay for.
